Gundog Training

Jack’s training methods are used to bring out the natural game finding abilities in all the gundogs he trains. The respect the gundogs have for him is there for all to see.

Jack has been involved with working dogs and horses since an early age and has the ability to bring to out the best in them.

This was proved in 1981 when he jointly won the title of Leading Jockey of the Northern Area Point to points. After hanging up his saddle he turned to concentrate on his dogs. He has produced excellent results.                

He can regularly be seen out and about with his gundogs, on some of the first class shoots that North Yorkshire has to offer. Cuckavlda Gundogs are now spreading around the globe. Cuckavaldas can now be found in America,Holland,France and Ireland

The dogs have been with Jack to the famous grouse moors of Dallowgill Estate in Nidderdale , The Rievaulx shoot run by Justin Birkett voted one of the top twenty in the county by the Fieldsports Magazine, the late Sir Tom Cowies Murton Grange shoot which is renown for high flying birds and to Newburgh Priory shoot which is run by Mark Faulkoner, who owns Brafferton Game Farm. Also at Oswaldkirk's Hall Farm Syndicate Shoot.

More recently Cuckavalda Boris -run by Brendan Kelly has won his first few tests in the under 18 month old catagories.Brendan is now looking forward to the trialling season to get underway.
